Best Player Prop Bets For December 27 CFB Bowl Games
BYU QB Bear Bachmeier 50+ Rushing Yards (+103 at DraftKings)
Pop-Tarts Bowl, 3:30 p.m., ABC
Georgia Tech (9-3) was an outstanding offensive team this season, but the Yellow Jackets struggled defensively, especially against the run.
In the last few weeks of the regular season, Georgia Tech gave up 196 yards to NC State RB Duke Scott, 200-plus yards on the ground to Pitt RB Ja’Kyrian Turner and 108 on just 16 carries to Georgia’s Nate Frazier.
Running QBs were not as much of an Achilles heel for the Jackets as running backs, but Bear Bachmeier had at least 9 carries in each of BYU’s (11-2) last 10 games of the year.
He should get a ton of opportunities on the ground in this matchup. Bachmeier was shut down by UFC and Texas Tech in BYU’s last two games, but he ran for at least 40 yards seven times this season, including four games with at least 59 yards. That makes backing Bachmeier — especially at plus-money — to run for at least 50 yards against a porous run D like Georgia Tech’s a great idea.
Bachmeier 60+ rushing yards is also tempting at +166 at DraftKings.
Missouri RB Ahmad Hardy 120+ Rushing Yards (-102 at DK)
Gator Bowl, 7:30 p.m., ABC
Hardy was one of the top running backs in the country for Missouri (8-4) this year, with 100-plus yards in eight games, including three games with over 150 rushing yards.
The first-team All-SEC back had at least 109 yards on the ground in three of his final four games of the year, including 109 on just 13 carries for a Texas A&M D that reached the College Football Playoff and 300 on 25 carries vs. Mississippi State.
Virginia (10-3) reached the ACC Championship Game on the strength of QB Chandler Morris and an excellent offense, but the Cavaliers were inconsistent defensively. UVA gave up 97 yards rushing to Duke’s Nate Sheppard in the ACC title game.
This defense was also gashed early in the season by NC State RB Hollywood Smothers (17 carries for 140 yards and 2 TDs) and Florida State. The Seminoles racked up over 250 total yards on the ground, as QB Tommy Castellanos and RBs Gavin Sawchuk and Ousmane Kromah all rushed for at least 60 yards in Virginia’s 2OT win over FSU.
Expect Missouri to lean on Hardy and the ground game to keep the explosive Cavaliers offense on the sidelines, and don’t be surprised to see another massive day by Hardy, who A) averaged 6.5 yards per carry this season and B) had at least 20 carries eight times.
