Authorities have identified a person of interest in the mass shooting at Brown University and are searching for the individual, multiple sources familiar with the investigation told CBS News.
Two students were killed and nine others were wounded Saturday when a gunman opened fire inside a classroom at the Ivy League school in Providence, Rhode Island, authorities said. The shooting occurred in the Barus & Holley engineering building during final exams.
Police said the male suspect fled the building after the shooting. In the days that followed, local police and the FBI released grainy surveillance images and video showing a man they described as a person of interest walking through a nearby neighborhood several hours before the first 911 calls were made.
