SAN JOSE – A carjacking suspect was dead and an officer was in the hospital following a police shooting Wednesday afternoon in downtown San Jose, according to authorities.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. near West Julian Street and Notre Dame Avenue.
The officer was taken to an area hospital, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post. An update on the officer’s condition was not immediately available.
A source familiar with the investigation said the suspect was dead.
The suspect was being pursued for carjackings, armed robberies and shootings spanning San Mateo County to Hollister.
