A canceled series starring Chris Pratt is returning to streaming.
The series is called “Everwood,” and it’s a teen drama that aired on the WB from Sept. 16, 2002, to June 5, 2006. Spanning 89 episodes across four seasons, it featured a young Chris Pratt in one of his earliest prominent roles.
Pratt plays Bright Abbott, the son of an established physician living in the small town of Everwood, Colorado. While appearing in all four seasons, the show follows neurosurgeon Dr. Andrew Brown who, after the death of his wife, moves from New York City to Everwood. We see him and his two children adjust to small-town life while dealing with the ongoing trauma and loss.
Seven years before Pratt rose to fame on comedy “Parks and Recreation,” then became one of the most bankable movie stars of his generation in the likes of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World” trilogies, it’s fascinating to see his acting talents take shape.
One of his biggest character arcs in the show sees him sacrifice his friendship group to defend his sister, Amy (Emily VanCamp). Decades later, VanCamp would join Pratt in the MCU. She plays Sharon Carter, appearing in the likes of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and Disney Plus series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Other well-known actors who appeared in “Everwood” include J.K. Simmons (another MCU actor), Kristen Bell, Kate Mara, and Betty White. The show’s creator, Greg Berlanti, went on to forge the Arrowverse, a shared universe based on DC comics characters.
Cutting your teeth on teen dramas is practically a rite of passage for emerging actors and actresses. Leonardo DiCaprio gained attention on 1991-1992 series “Growing Pains,” Johnny Depp was in “21 Jump Street,” and Ryan Gosling featured in “Breaker High.” Nicholas Hoult, Daniel Kaluuya, and Dev Patel all launched their careers on the British teen drama “Skins.”
