The Denver Broncos were able to punch their ticket to the AFC Championship Game on Saturday with a win over the Buffalo Bills, but that win proved costly as quarterback Bo Nix went down with a season-ending ankle injury.
Nix being out for next week’s game against the New England Patriots will not be easy for the Broncos to recover from. Jarrett Stidham will be the team’ starter with Nix out.
With that being said, Denver needed to add more quarterback depth with Nix no longer being available. The team went out and signed a new quarterback on Sunday afternoon.

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Broncos have signed quarterback Ben DiNucci to the practice squad. DiNucci played for Denver two years ago.
“Broncos are signing veteran QB Ben DiNucci to their practice squad, per source. He rejoins the team he played for two seasons ago,” Schefter wrote on X.
In an ideal world, DiNucci won’t see the field for the Broncos next week. Stidham will be asked to take on a very important role after not being involved on the field this season.
Not only has Stidham not played a very big role for Denver this season, he hasn’t completed a pass in the NFL since the 2023 campaign. During that season with the Broncos, the 29-year-old signal caller threw for 496 yards, two touchdowns, and an interceptions. He also completed 60.6 percent of his pass attempts.
There are going to be a lot of nerves for Denver fans leading up to next week’s game. Beating the Patriots would have been no easy task with Nix on the field. Coming out with a win without him will be an extremely difficult thing to do.

On the other hand, Stidham coming in to replace Nix and leading the Broncos to a win over New England would be a wild story. There have been many crazier things that have been happened in NFL history.
DiNucci has played in three NFL games throughout his career. In those appearances, he completed 23 of his 43 pass attempts for 219 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He also picked up 22 yards on six carries.
