Escondido police were searching Saturday for a 76-year-old man with dementia who went missing from their city.
Douglas Govan was last seen about 1:50 a.m. Saturday walking in the area of Centre City Parkway and Mission Avenue, according to the Escondido Police Department.
In addition to suffering from dementia, Govan needs medication to treat a recent stroke, police said.
Govan has communication difficulties and can only respond with “yes” or “no” to questions, police said. He is not from Escondido, nor is he familiar with the area.
Govan is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 165 pounds, with short gray hair and blue eyes, last seen wearing a light-green long-sleeved quarter-zip sweatshirt, blue jeans and black sneakers.
Anyone who has seen Govan or knows where he might be was asked to call Escondido police at 760-839-4722 or call 911.
