A fire that killed 10-year-old London Woodard in Washington Heights Monday was caused by electrical issues, according to Chicago police.
The fire erupted just before 3:30 a.m. in the main level of his home in the 10400 block of South Green Street. London Woodard was found in the house and was taken to Roseland Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
An 18-year-old was also pulled out of the home and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire was caused by electrical issues, according to a police report, which said the blaze was “non-criminal.”
“He was a joy to be around,” recalled London’s uncle Robert Harris Jr.. “He was always laughing and playing.”
