Maine man missing since early April found dead, police say

Twelve days after the man was last seen, his body was found on a dirt road in the town where he went missing, according to police.

Maine State Police are investigating the death of a Thomaston man after he went missing earlier this month, the agency said.

Darryl Sanborn, 64, was last seen in Waldoboro, Maine on April 5, State Police said in a press release. Two days later, Waldoboro police requested help from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit in finding him.

On April 17, a person walking on a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro discovered a man’s body, according to State Police. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta determined through an autopsy that it was Sanborn’s body, the agency said.

Sanborn’s cause and manner of death are still being determined, State Police said. Though police are investigating, they said that there is “no known danger to the public” at this time.
