The Notre Dame Fighting Irish saw their 2025 college football season come to a disappointing end, missing out on the playoffs despite many believing that they should have gotten in.
Marcus Freeman and the program decided to pass on playing in a bowl game, ending their season.
Notre Dame saw quarterback Kenny Minchey enter the NCAA transfer portal. He is a talented quarterback who was never quite able to figure things out with the Fighting Irish, but will be sought after by other programs in the portal.

Plenty of teams across the nation could use a quarterback with the potential that Minchey possesses. However, the question remains, where could he end up landing?
A new prediction has been made for Minchey’s college football future.
John Canady of SportsGrid has predicted that Minchey will end up with the Arizona State Sun Devils. If that prediction comes true, Minchey would be replacing Sam Leavitt for Arizona State.
When he committed to the Fighting Irish in the 2023 recruiting class, Minchey was rated a four-star quarterback prospect by 247 Sports. He was ranked No. 14 in the nation and was the No. 169 ranked player in the country.
Now that he is in the transfer portal, 247 Sports has him ranked No. 7 among quarterbacks and No. 28 among all players in the portal.
Assuming his time at Notre Dame has officially come to an end, Minchey will have played in just 10 total games in three years. He completed 23 of his 29 pass attempts for 212 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Landing with the Sun Devils would be a great opportunity for Minchey. He would have the chance to play for a top-notch head coach in Kenny Dillingham. Replacing Leavitt would be no easy task, but he would have an opportunity to showcase his talent.
There are a lot of other teams who could get involved with Minchey as well. He’s going to receive a lot of phone calls with many different offers. That being said, Arizona State is worth keeping a very close eye on throughout the transfer portal process.
