Person wanted by ICE ‘nearly crushed’ agent with car in Quincy, officials say

A person wanted by ICE allegedly “weaponized” their vehicle and targeted a federal agent in Quincy last Friday, according to officials.

The incident occurred when ICE agents attempted to make a “targeted arrest” on Bigelow Street in Quincy just after 11 a.m., according to a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security. Agents stopped the person’s vehicle and exited their own. The person who they pulled over then tried to “evade arrest” and “nearly crushed a special agent” with their vehicle, the spokesperson said.

The agent jumped out of the vehicle’s path. It struck the door of an ICE vehicle, “briefly pinning” the agent. The person ICE was targeting fled the scene in their vehicle and remains at large, the DHS spokesperson said. The ICE agent suffered minor injuries and will be evaluated at a hospital, they added.

Quincy police also responded to the incident. They received a report of a hit-and-run near the intersection of Bigelow Street and Miller Stile Road at about 11:17 a.m. on Friday, Sgt. Patrick Faherty said in a statement.

“One of the vehicles involved was operated by a Department of Homeland Security Agent. The Quincy Police responded to investigate the hit and run accident,” he said. “At this time, this accident is under investigation, however, there were no tows and no persons were transported to the hospital from the scene.”

A State Police spokesperson referred questions about the incident to Quincy police. Faherty referred all questions about the incident to DHS officials.
