Jake Knapp was set to participate in the Cadillac Championship, beginning with the first round of the new PGA Tour signature event on Thursday.
But just before his first round, Knapp withdrew from the tournament due to a sprained left thumb.
Knapp was replaced by Kristoffer Reitan, who played alongside J.T. Poston in the 12:35 p.m. ET tee time.
This marks Knapp’s second last-minute withdrawal from a signature event this season. The 31-year-old American golfer suddenly withdrew just before his first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. His withdrawal was confirmed about 20 minutes before his tee time at Bay Hill, and no reason was released to the public.
When he’s able to take the course, Knapp has been solid through his 2026 PGA Tour season.
Aside from a missed cut at The Players and a T74 finish at the RBC Heritage, Knapp has not finished outside T11 all year. He recently finished T6 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open and T11 at the 2026 Masters Tournament.
World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler headlines the field for this week’s inaugural signature event at Miami’s Trump National Doral Blue Monster Course.
“This course in particular is pretty straightforward in a sense of like you can see off the tee box where you need to hit it, it’s just a matter of hitting it there time and time again,” Scheffler said of the course on Wednesday.
“There’s not really many tricks to this golf course. It’s just very, very difficult. … There’s just a lot of bunkers, a lot of water and the golf holes are long. So with that combination, it’s going to be tough.”
