Police identify woman who claimed she had been kidnapped, say she is not in danger

Abington police had initially asked for the public’s help in identifying the woman, who appeared on a Ring camera early Tuesday, saying she’d been kidnapped.

Abington police have identified a woman who told a resident she had just been kidnapped after showing up at a home early Tuesday morning, and say there is no indication she is in danger.

The woman was captured on a Ring doorbell camera around 2:53 a.m. on Karen Lane, according to the Abington Police Department. During the interaction, she said she was trying to locate an address in the area and claimed she had been kidnapped.

She left the area shortly afterward, prompting police to seek the public’s help in identifying her.

“We are asking anyone who may recognize this individual, witnessed any activity in the area around that time, or has any relevant information to please contact the Abington Police Department,” police said in their initial notice.

In an update issued on Facebook Thursday, police said the woman has since been identified and that there is no indication she is in danger.

Authorities did not release her name or give further details about the circumstances.
