If players needed another reason to jump back into “Arc Raiders” because they stopped for some odd reason, then here it is. Starting on April 28, Update 1.26 will deliver a ridiculous visual overhaul that will change the way the game looks for PS5 Pro players specifically.
The upgraded version of PSSR, the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, is a machine-learning upscaling tech that basically makes developed assets and renders way sharper than ever thought possible. If you thought getting a new prescription helped you see better, then just imagine what PSSR would do to the world if you updated your eyes with them.
You’ll immediately notice that things like trees swaying in the wind and other moving objects look way crisper, and that details are far smoother and pop more. Instead of rain, you’ll actually get rendered raindrops that don’t make it look as though you dipped your screen in a static filter.
According to Mikael Linderholm, the Technical Art Director at Embark Studios,
“With the improved PSSR we can deliver increased image quality and stability, significantly reducing visual noise in-game without any performance reductions, allowing our players to experience the game and its world with less distractions.“
What’s even better is that this update is made to ensure that it doesn’t interfere with the performance. The results aren’t just impressive, they’re breathtaking. Of this, Engine Lead at Embark Studios Robert Kihl had this to say,
“The new improved PSSR brings significant improvements to image quality, especially in challenging scenarios with many small details in motion. Impressive to see how well it works on the wide variation of complex scenes that we have in Arc Raiders.“
Update 1.26 for “Arc Raiders” will be available beginning on April 28 for the PS5 Pro.
