In what was supposed to be a celebration for the NFL’s league-leader in touchdowns as his team clinched a berth in the 2025 NFL Playoffs has turned into a night of fear as an injury might sideline him in his quest to win his first-ever Lombardi trophy.
Davante Adams was having an excellent day on the field against the Detroit Lions as MVP frontrunner Matthew Stafford continued to find him on crossing routes in the middle of the field. Adams was breaking off the line like he was in his prime, juking Lions defenders in the first few yards before bursting downfield for substantial yards.
But in the second half on a third-and-long play, Adams shot down field like he had for the majority of the game, but this time stopped in the middle of his burst after 15 yards, grabbing his hamstring and collapsing to the ground as a raucous SoFi Stadium went dead silent.

Although Adams was able to get up on his own accord and limp into the locker room with some help, he did not return to the game in which his team outlasted the Lions in a scoring duel.
After leaving the New York Jets in the offseason, Adams signed a two-year contract with the Rams and has found a new home in Southern California. His connection with Stafford in the red zone has been similar to his days with the Packers with Aaron Rodgers. He has openly joked that his career will end at the same time Stafford hangs up the cleats as well.
Adams has been plagued with hamstring issues all year and has sat out multiple weeks to lessen the strain, but this is the first time all year he’s exited the game, aggravating the injury.
It is unlikely he will play in the Rams’ next game as they fly to Seattle to play the Seahawks on Thursday in a game that might decide the NFC West between the two 11-3 teams.
