The Pima County Sheriff’s Department sparked confusion with a vague social media post that some believed was about the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.
The sheriff’s department wrote on X on Thursday night that “Nancy has been located,” referring to 82-year-old Nancy Radakovich who was reported missing earlier that day from the Catalina Foothills neighborhood outside Tucson.
Some on social media initially thought the post was about Guthrie, the mother of Today co-host Savannah Guthrie. There’s been no sign of Nancy Guthrie since authorities say she was abducted from her home in the same neighborhood on February 1. There’s been no sign of her since then, despite her disappearance sparking a massive search and drawing nationwide attention.
“I LITERALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS NANCY GUTHRIE. THE WAY MY HEART JUST DROPPED!” one X user wrote in response to the post from the sheriff’s department.
This is a developing story. More to follow.
