The Sun-Times’ Bears experts make their picks for Super Bowl LX between the Patriots and Seahawks on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. (5:30 p.m., NBC 5):
Jason Lieser
Seahawks, 21-17: Both teams are very good, but neither is great. The Seahawks set themselves apart, though, with an overwhelming defense that finished sixth with 25 takeaways. The Patriots, who caught a lot of breaks in their schedule this season, haven’t seen an opponent this strong.
Patrick Finley
Seahawks, 27-13: The Patriots are maybe the worst conference champion of this decade. America spent all week trying to manifest a close game by sheer force of will — no one likes a blowout — but Sunday will be a walkover by halftime.
Steve Greenberg
Seahawks, 23-19: If Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Nick Foles could do it, heck, Sam Darnold can, too. A lot of guys could if they got to lean on a defense as tough as Seattle’s. The Patriots will hang in there and have a chance at an upset, though.
Scoop Jackson
Seahawks, 31-13: Take Darnold, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp (already a SB MVP from 2022), Nick Emmanwori, Devon Witherspoon and the “Dark Side” and coach Mike McDonald, and you have a collective that’s proven all season they’ve been obsessed on walking away with all the spoils that go to Super Bowl victors.
