US issues update on new passport applications for millions

The U.S. Department of State has announced a new round of special passport acceptance fairs nationwide this spring.

The new dates include evening and weekend options for in-person applicants across multiple states and territories.

The events are supposed to be for first-time applicants but some events at passport agencies may accept renewals, with appointment rules varying by location, State Department guidance said.
