ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – One of six soldiers killed abroad over the weekend following the start of the U.S.-Israel bombing campaign against Iran had ties to the St. Louis area.
On Wednesday morning, Webster University learned one of its students, Captain Cody A. Khork of the U.S. Army Reserve, died Sunday in an unmanned aircraft system attack by Iran.
The unmanned aircraft struck a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, where Khork and five other members of the Army Reserve were stationed.
Khork, a native of White Haven, Florida, was 35.
According to a statement from Webster University, Khork was an online student pursuing his master’s degree in business and organizational security management. He earned his undergraduate degree from Florida Southern College.
The other soldiers killed in Sunday’s attack were identified as Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, Iowa; Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa; and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California.
All six soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command out of Des Moines, Iowa.
