DoorDash driver Sharon Simmons delivered two bags of McDonald’s to President Donald Trump at the White House of Monday.
Simmons, a grandmother of 10 from Arkansas, appeared at the Oval Office wearing a red t-shirt saying “DoorDash Grandma.”
“I have your DoorDash order for you, Mr. President,” Simmons told Trump, adding that it included “all of your favorites.”
Trump used the occasion to promote his No Tax on Tips policy passed last summer, and asked Simmons to stand by him during a press conference.
Trump asked Simmons: “I think you voted for me. Do you think?” Simmons responded: “Um, maybe.”
Trump concluded by saying: “I heard you’re a great supporter. We appreciate it.” He then gave her a $100 tip.
DoorDash said it was a “personal” moment for Simmons, who has been a driver for the food delivery company since 2022 and has completed more than an estimated 14,000 drop-offs.
According to Simmons, she was able to save $11,000 in tips per year due to to Trump’s No Tax on Tips policy.
On Monday, she told Fox News that the policy was “incredible,” and was helping with her husband’s cancer treatment. “It’s going to help certainly with future doctors’ appointments and future things that we have going on. It means a lot,” she said.
