Woman shot, killed in UI Health parking garage in Little Italy

A woman on her way to an appointment at UI Health was fatally shot in a parking garage Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Wood Street in Little Italy in what hospital officials say may have been a domestic-related attack, according to a release from UI Health.

Investigators with UIC police believe the shooting, which occurred at 1:35 p.m., “may be related to a domestic dispute,” according to the statement. Chicago police deferred to UIC police, according to a spokesperson.

“There is no threat to the campus community,” officials said in the statement. “The northeast section of the third floor of the garage remains closed as part of the investigation.”
