A vehicle fleeing from an officer in Sunrise on Friday that crashed into a canal in Parkland killed two people, while another person was arrested, deputies said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, a 2025 BMW involved in an incident in Sunrise was fleeing at a high speed in the area of Nob Hill Road and Loxahatchee Road, and the officer lost the vehicle.
As the officer searched for the BMW, they saw it was in the canal on the north side of Loxahatchee Road.
BSO said that one suspect, 25-year-old Anthony Davis, was arrested a short time after, while the two other suspects, Jerome Turner and Kelby Broward-Richardson, were not found.
It was unclear if the two fled the area or were in the canal.
BSO’s aviation, K-9, and drone units, as well as dive teams, spent Friday searching for the two suspects.
Turner and Broward-Richardson were then found in the evening, deceased in the canal by dive teams.
Investigators said the vehicle’s high speed is what caused the crash.
Davis was charged with robbery by snatching with a firearm or weapon and resisting an officer without violence.
An investigation into the crash remains active.
NBC6 has reached out to Sunrise Police for information on the original incident.
