A man who called the police after claiming he fired his gun at a driver who tried to hit him in Miami was arrested on Sunday, authorities said.
Samuel Saintremy, 32, was charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon, displaying a firearm while committing a felony, and unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public place.
According to authorities, four ShotSpotter alerts were detected in the area of Northwest Miami Court and 71st Street.
An arrest report said Saintremy called officers and told them that someone driving a Blue Nissan tried to hit him, and Saintremy fired his gun at the driver.
Saintremy was then detained, and officers found the driver suffering from several gunshot wounds, the report said.
Officers, the report said, took the victim out of the car and provided first aid until fire rescue crews arrived at the scene.
After Saintremy was detained, officers found a black and silver Smith and Wesson handgun, and he had one empty magazine and one full magazine that had 40mm rounds, the report said.
During their investigation, the report said, officers found 15 spent shell casings near the victim’s vehicle, and two witnesses in the area told officers that they heard several gunshots but didn’t see what had happened.
Surveillance video from a parking lot at 7101 N. Miami Ave. shows Saintremy and the driver arguing, and then the driver goes into his vehicle while Saintremy stands in front of it, the report said. The driver is then seen accelerating towards Saintremy’s direction before going towards the exit of the parking lot.
Saintremy, the report said, was then seen reaching into his waistband, following the vehicle on foot and then firing multiple shots at the passenger side of the vehicle while it wasn’t moving.
He then went back to the spot where the two were arguing and grabbed something from the ground, the report said.
Since the video had lag and the clarity was unclear, officers couldn’t conclude that the driver struck Saintremy, the report said.
Saintremy on Monday was then read his rights.
