King Taco is inching closer to being cemented into Los Angeles history.
The Los Angeles City Council Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) Committee voted unanimously to designate the original location in Cypress Park as a historic landmark. The food chain, which has more than a dozen locations across the Southland, opened its first restaurant in 1974.
Cypress Park locals said the designation is long overdue.
“This place has been here for so long, so they do deserve it,” one local who was dining at the original location said on Tuesday.
The proposal is now advancing to the Los Angeles City Council for final approval.
