A 70-year-old man from Rolling Meadows was identified as the pedestrian killed in a crash that shut down a suburban road for hours as police worked to investigate.
William Capozzielli, 70, of Rolling Meadows, was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in the 2700 block of Algonquin Road. When police arrived, they found a man, later identified as Capozzoli, down in the roadway.
Capozzoli was transported to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The crash shut down a busy stretch of Algonquin Road for hours Tuesday, with police advising the public to take alternate routes and avoid the area.
The driver of the vehicle involved is cooperating with authorities, and an investigation remains ongoing. No charges have been filed.
