A suburban house fire that sent smoke billowing into the air Thursday morning was likely caused by a lightning strike, officials said.
Around noon, Morton Grove Fire Department officials responded to a structure fire on the 6400 block of Hoffman Terrance and found a two-story home on fire.
The roof, the attic and an exterior wall of the home were in flames when MGFD arrived, authorities said.
Aerial video captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed a large plume of smoke rising from the house as firefighters extinguished the blaze.
Crews were able to quickly put out the fire and everyone inside the house was able to evacuate safely, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
Though the cause of the fire is still being investigated, MGFD said initial reports suggest that it was likely caused by a lightning strike.
