Police ask residents to avoid part of Route 6 near Joliet after ‘major’ crash

Police are asking drivers to avoid part of a southwestern suburb as authorities investigate a “major” crash in the area.

Around 2:20 p.m., a crash occurred near Channahon Road and Brandon Road in Joliet Township, authorities said.

“Roadway will be closed for sometime due to accident reconstruction investigation. Please avoid Rt. 6 and Brandon Rd due to major accident,” the Rockdale Fire Protection District said in a post on social media.
