A death investigation is under way in the northern suburbs after a man’s body was found in a forest preserve, with officials asking the public’s help to identify him.
The body was found about 6:08 p.m. Friday, April 17 in the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve, at 10 Cliff Road in Highland Park after reports of a body in the water.
When officers arrived, they located a man’s body in the water and brought him to shoreline.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Lake County Forest Preserves Police Department, Highland Park Police Department, Highland Park Fire Department, authorities said.
Monday, an autopsy conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s office indicated the man’s death was consistent with drowning, but identification wasn’t completed “despite multiple scientific attempts.”
Lake County officials are now asking for the public’s help to identify the man, who is approximately 5’3” tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He is believed to be in his late 50s to early 70s, with grey hair and bald at the top of the head.
The man was wearing light, blue, lightweight drawstring shorts, on olive green Adidas hat with Nike shoes. He was also wearing white meal ring and a Tahari watch.

According to authorities, an investigation remains underway.
