Nearly two years after a drive-by mass shooting happened at a pop-up party on the Fourth of July of 2024 in Southwest Philly, the Philadelphia Police Department has named a suspect in the deadly incident.
On Wednesday, police shared an image of Naseem Sills, 19, who is wanted by officials following a shooting that happened at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2024, along the 1900 block of South Salford Street in Southwest Philadelphia.
The shooting, which police have said happened when a gunman fired out of the passenger side of a passing SUV into a pop-up party, left 19-year-old Maurice Quain dead.
Eight others, including a teen girl, two teen boys and five men, were injured during the incident.
Overall, police said, nearly 20 shots were fired in this shooting from three different firearms.
An investigation into the incident remains ongoing, officials said.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about Sills or the incident that led to Quain’s death is asked to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334/3335 or by contacting the department’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
