An Atlantic County corrections officer was sentenced to five years in prison for smuggling contraband into the Atlantic County Justice Facility, according to prosecutors.
On Dec. 9, 2025, Christopher Piccioni, 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree conspiracy to commit official misconduct after, officials said, he smuggled multiple packages containing nicotine, narcotics and cell phones into the jail for inmate Dion Robinson from October 2023 through March 2024.
According to prosecutors, Robinson’s girlfriend, Qydreia Smith, would give Piccioni the packages, and she would pay him several thousands dollars per package.
Smith and Robinson have also entered guilty pleas to second-degree conspiracy and are pending sentencing.
“The rule of law applies equally to everyone without fear, without favor, and without exception. Public officials who abuse their office for personal gain will be held to the same standard of justice as every citizen,” Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds said.
The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Professional Standards Unit and the Atlantic County Justice Facility
