What’s old is new again as a new transportation center opens at the site of a shuttered bus terminal in Center City.
After bouncing around from several locations after the city’s Center City bus terminal was shuttered in the hopes of bringing a new Sixers stadium to Philly’s Market East community, the location is refreshed and renamed as PPA Transportation Center.
Finally, travelers looking to rely on buses to commute throughout the region can catch their rides on the 1000 block of Filbert Street, right were the Greyhound Bus Terminal used to be.
The new structure features 44,000 square feet of renovated bays for buses, including 11 bays with full ADA accessibility.
It also has over 13,000 square feet of interior space with seating for 189 passengers in the terminal with updated amenities for the public.
The building has renovated, clean and modern restrooms along with interior and exterior security cameras in place all around the property.
The terminal will be staffed every day, around the clock, officials said.
