Police say an investigation is underway and a person has been hospitalized after a driver struck a Philly police cruiser in a crash, then fled and ran into a building in West Philly overnight.
Officials said the incident unfolded after a blue Tesla vehicle struck a police cruiser in a crash that happened at about 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of South St. Bernard and Spruce streets in West Philadelphia.
After that incident, officials said, the driver behind the wheel of the Tesla pulled away from the crash and sped down South 50th Street before they crashed into a building at the intersection of 50th and Walnut streets.
After the second crash, officials said, one person was taken to a nearby hospital. However, police did not immediately provide further information on this individual or the severity of their injuries.
Officials did not immediately say if the driver of the Tesla would face charges following this crash.
Police also did not say if any officers were injured when the hit-and-run crash occurred.
