Anfernee Simons has missed the Bulls’ last two games after aggravating a wrist injury.
Bulls coach Billy Donovan told reporters this week that it was an “old injury.” Simons fractured his wrist during training camp with the Celtics, he said.
“The fracture hasn’t quite healed, and I think him seeing a hand specialist, they felt like, you know, once the pain subsides that he’s fine to go back to play,” Donovan said, per ESPN. “The last time it happened to him, it was in training camp in Boston. It was like a week or 10 days.”
Simons played in 49 games with the Celtics this season, averaging 14.2 points per game off the bench while shooting 39.5 percent from 3-point range. He did not miss any games while with the Celtics.
The Celtics traded Simons and a second-round pick to the Bulls for Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic has averaged 9.9 points and 7.7 rebounds for the Celtics through seven games with the team.
The Bulls are on a 10-game losing streak. The Celtics have lost nine of their last 11 games.
Simons is set to miss a third straight game Thursday night versus Portland, according to The Athletic’s Joel Lorenzi, and he remains out indefinitely.
