Pedestrian hospitalized after being struck by MBTA bus in Norwood

Transit police say the woman was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

A 35-year-old woman was hospitalized Monday after being struck by an MBTA bus in Norwood, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Washington Street, according to Richard Sullivan, superintendent of the MBTA Transit Police.

The woman was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by the bus, Sullivan said.

She sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Sullivan said the woman was conscious and alert at the time she was taken from the scene and is listed in stable condition.

Transit police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, Sullivan said.

“It is our sincere hope she fully recovers,” he added.
