The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a dominant Super Bowl victory just under a month ago, with running back Kenneth Walker III earning MVP honors after rushing 37 times for 135 yards and catching two passes for 26 yards.
Now, after four seasons with the team, Walker is set to enter free agency. The prevailing assumption is that Seattle, likely will not use the franchise or transition tag on him.
While a return on a new deal is possible, several other teams could potentially offer more than Seattle is willing or able to match, despite entering free agency with a significant amount of space.

This raises the question of who could fill the void. One obvious option is Zach Charbonnet, but he suffered a torn ACL in the playoffs, casting doubt on his availability at the start of next season.
Another name has emerged following trade rumors: seven-year veteran David Montgomery reportedly requested a trade from the Detroit Lions, and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler linked him to the Seahawks shortly after the news broke.
“Word out of Indy is that Detroit would want a decent Day 3 pick (possibly a fifth-rounder) in return for [Montgomery]. Seattle makes sense here if it can’t re-sign Kenneth Walker III,” Fowler reported.
Montgomery has been an extremely reliable running back throughout his NFL career, but his role has diminished with the emergence of Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit. A change of scenery could be a logical move for him—and a more affordable option for the Seahawks if they are unable to reach a deal with Walker III.
Montgomery spent the first four seasons of his career with the Chicago Bears, and over his seven-year NFL tenure, he has surpassed 1,000 scrimmage yards in six seasons. He has rushed for a total of 6,115 yards with 59 touchdowns and added 1,890 receiving yards out of the backfield.
