A ground stop was issued for flights heading to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport due to thunderstorms late Tuesday evening.
The ground stop was put in place for departures to O’Hare around 10:20 p.m. and will continue until 11:45 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for northern DuPage County and northern Cook County until 11:15 p.m as storms strong enough to potentially cause damage rolled through the area.
The probability of extension on the ground stop is medium, according to the FAA.
Flights at Midway Airport were not impacted by the storms as of 10:45 p.m.
