A man has been arrested and charged after police said he assaulted a DART bus driver, leaving her with serious injuries in Newark, Delaware.
According to Delaware State Police, on Thursday, December 4, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., troopers responded to Peoples Plaza in Newark for a report of an assault.
Police said when troopers arrived on scene, they learned that a woman, who is a DART bus driver, had been assaulted by a man later identified as 22-year-old Larry Bryant.
The investigation revealed that the driver was returning to her bus from a nearby business when Bryant allegedly began following her, making her feel uncomfortable, according to police.
The bus driver asked Bryant to stop following her and attempted to dial 911 after Bryant refused. Police said that’s when Bryant struck the bus driver in the face before fleeing.
Police said the bus driver was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for serious injuries.
According to police, troopers found Bryant inside a theater at Regal Cinemas and arrested him without incident.
Police added that they learned Bryant also did not pay to enter the theater.
Bryant was taken into custody and charged with felony assault second degree causing injury to a public transit operator and theft of services under $1500.
