Police in Wildwood, New Jersey have arrested a man and charged him with arson and potentially risking the lives of others after he, allegedly, set fire to his own apartment on Nov. 22, 2025.
According to police, officers arrested Edmir Pepa, 35, of Wildwood, NJ, after first responders were called to a reported fire an apartment complex on Nov. 22, 2025, in the community and alerted that someone was injured in one of the apartments.
Inside an apartment on the property’s second-floor, police claim, firefighters found Pepa, who was suffering from smoke inhalation and had, allegedly, suffered self-inflicted lacerations.
Pepa was removed from the apartment and taken to a hospital for treatment at that time, police said.
An investigation into the fire, officials claim — including a review of surveillance footage, witness interviews and the execution of a search warrant — revealed that Pepa, allegedly, set fire to multiple areas of his own apartment.
He has been charged with arson and causing widespread injury or damage.
Police said the incident put the lives of himself and other residents of the property in danger.
He surrendered to police on Tuesday, officials said, and is in custody at the Capy May County Correctional Center.
