What to Know
- A First Alert is in effect for our area on Friday, Dec. 19, until 8 p.m. for a strong storm that could potentially bring damaging wind gusts leading to power outages, along with morning downpours. Heavy rain will ease as we go into Friday afternoon.
- We’re tracking rain across most of the area Friday morning with light to moderate showers now, but some downpours are likely as we go through the morning commute.
- Strong gusty winds will be ramping up between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. this morning with potential for some isolated wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph. This could lead to power outages as tree limbs or trees are blown down. We’re not expecting widespread power outages or damage, but the threat is there this morning.
- The rain tapers off as we go into Friday afternoon. The wind will change direction and our mild morning temperatures near 60° will be falling into the 40s in the afternoon. But winds ramp up again late this afternoon with widespread gusts of 40 to 45 mph possible.
