Pa. man accused of stealing bones from cemetery in Delaware County

A Pennsylvania man is accused of stealing bones from a cemetery in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

Jonathan Gerlach, 34, of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, is charged with abuse of corpse, criminal mischief, burglary and other related offenses.

Officials have not yet revealed which cemetery Gerlach specifically targeted but plan to reveal more details during a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, in Media, Pennsylvania. Gerlach is currently in custody at the Delaware County Prison after failing to post bail.
