Law enforcement officials in Montgomery County announced, on Tuesday, that the Pennsylvania State Police’s SWAT team captured a man in Philadelphia after he had been sought in a Norristown slaying since November of last year.
Officials said Pa. State Police apprehended Ziyker Washington, 20, of Norristown at a home in Philadelphia — though they did not detail the exact location where the apprehension occurred — on Monday night.
Washington has been charged with murder, firearm possession and related offenses and has been sought since the Nov. 30, 2025 slaying of 19-year-old Hamid Boyd, who was shot to death on the 1000 block of Powell Street in Norristown.
In that incident, officials said, investigators recovered 45 spent shell casings at the scene of the crime.
Officials have said that the killing likely stemmed from fighting between rival gangs in Norristown.
Two others, Mark Fields, 18, of Norristown, and Theodore Adams, 17, of Philadelphia, were previously arrested in this case and are awaiting a preliminary hearing, officials said.
“I want to thank the public for the numerous tips and assistance in getting this defendant in custody and off the streets. The murder of Hamid Boyd appears to have been caused by senseless feuding between two groups of young people that left one young man dead and now has put three others in prison,” said Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele in a statement on Washington’s apprehension. “While Washington managed to evade police for more than a month, anyone looking to commit murder in Montgomery County should know that we and our law enforcement partners will never give up finding all murderers until they are behind bars where they can’t harm the law-abiding people of our communities.”
Officials said Washington is being held in police custody without bail in Montgomery County. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled on Jan. 23, 2026.
