A school in Woodbury, New Jersey, was placed in lockdown on Wednesday afternoon after a shooting occurred nearby, police and school officials said.
According to police, a shooting occurred on North Evergreen Avenue, between Cooper Street and Red Bank Avenue, at around 3:30 p.m., which is in the area of Evergreen Avenue School.
An active shooting did not take place at the school, but police said the suspect may have ran through the school’s parking lot as they tried to flee, according to a note sent to parents that was shared with NBC10.
Although classes had ended at the time, after-school clubs and activities were still taking place in the school at the time of the lockdown, the note said.
Students have since been dismissed and there is no threat to the public at this time, police said.
