Sources tell NBC10 that an investigation into police officers in Delaware County spans at least two departments.
A Darby Township police officer is on paid administrative leave, according to the Darby solicitor, who said the public servant is part of an ongoing investigation by the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division.
Sources said the investigation also involves two officers with the Sharon Hill Police Department.
Search warrants were executed at the officers’ homes in recent days, but it’s unclear what detectives collected. Sources said the investigation centers around illegal drugs.
The Darby solicitor shared that a subpoena was issued and remains sealed, adding: “The Board is aware of the investigation but knows no details as they have not been released to our Police Chief or the Township.”
The solicitor also states that the township has not been asked to provide any further information but will cooperate if a request is made.
NBC10 reached out to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office on Monday about the investigation and at the time, a spokesperson said they were unable to confirm anything. After reaching out again on Wednesday, they said they have no comment.
It was also confirmed that the investigation has extended to other departments in Delaware County, but so far only involves three officers.
NBC10 reached out to the Pennsylvania Attorney General and the Solicitor for Sharon Hill on Wednesday, asking for comment about the investigation. We have not heard back.
