Trenton man arrested after hours-long hostage situation, officials say

A 47-year-old Trenton, New Jersey man has been arrested, officials said, after he, allegedly barricaded himself inside a home and held a woman hostage at knifepoint.

According to police in Mercer County, New Jersey, the situation unfolded on Sunday morning along the 600 block of North Clinton Avenue in Trenton when, officials allege Anthony Parker, 47, took a woman hostage at knifepoint before barricading himself inside a home on that block.

Police said that, during the hours-long ordeal, Parker held his victim at knifepoint and refused to let her leave.

For several hours, officials said, a Trenton Police Department crisis negotiator engaged with Parker, working to end the situation.

After some time, police said, Parker eventually surrendered to officials and released his hostage, who was physically unharmed.

Once the hostage was safely removed from the scene, officials said, Parker was placed under arrest.
