Workers responded to a large water main break in Philadelphia’s East Mount Airy neighborhood early Friday morning.
The break occurred on Stenton Ave and East Ellet Street. Lajuan Pierce, who lives in the area, told NBC10 the break occurred around 1 a.m. He said water was still working inside his home Friday morning.
“The water was working. Everything is working right now but they haven’t cut the water off just yet so I’m assuming we will be out of water for a few,” he said. “For how long I do not know.”
Employees with the Philadelphia Water Department as well as Philadelphia Gas Works all arrived at the scene around 7 a.m. as water gushed down the street. Officials have not yet revealed how many properties are impacted.
