An investigation is underway after a fire scorched part of a high school classroom in Wildwood, New Jersey.
According to the City of Wildwood Fire Department, just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, crews were dispatched to Wildwood High School after the fire alarm went off.
When crews arrived at the scene, officials said they found a fire in the HVAC unit of a third-floor classroom.
Officials shared that the fire was quickly extinguished and only contained to that classroom.
The damage from the fire was minimal, officials said. Photos from the scene showed part of the classroom completely burned.

Officials said the fire is being investigated by the Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office and the WFD Fire Investigation Unit.
Wildwood High School was closed for the day due to the fire, the City of Wildwood Police Department reported.
