A Pennsylvania State Police K-9, named “Ivan,” is being credited for his work in helping troopers seize 40 lbs. of marijuana in a traffic stop that happened in Ridley Township, last week.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2026, along I-95 in Ridley Township, when a vehicle was stopped for what officials said, was “multiple violations.”
During that stop, officials said, troopers noticed “several indicators of criminal activity” and requested a police K-9 unit after the operator of the vehicle involved in the traffic stop denied a request for troopers to search the vehicle.
Once on the scene, officials said, the K-9 alerted officers to the odor of narcotics and the operator of the vehicle was detained as troopers secured a search warrant.
A search warrant was obtained, the vehicle was seized and, officials said, during a search, investigators discovered about 40 lbs. of marijuana concealed in boxes and buckets along with about $6,000 in cash.
The operator of the vehicle — who police did not provide further identifying information on — was arrested and charged with drug possession and traffic offenses, officials said.
An investigation into this incident, police said, remains ongoing.
