A man from Pennsylvania was convicted after voting two times in the 2020 presidential election, according to officials.
Between October of 2012 and August of 2020, 32-year-old Matthew Laiss lived in Ottsville, Pennsylvania, and was legally registered to vote in Bucks County.
At some point in August of 2020, Laiss moved to Frostproof, Florida, where he became registered to vote there.
In October of 2020, the Bucks County Board of Elections sent Laiss a mail-in ballot to his former home where his parents still lived.
By the end of that month, Laiss filled out the ballot and mailed it back effectively voting for the offices of President and Vice President in the 2020 election.
Then, on Nov. 3, 2020, Laiss went to a polling location in person in Florida where he cast a ballot in the same election.
On March 4, 2026, Laiss was convicted of election fraud charges including voting more than once.
A sentencing for Laiss is scheduled for June 10, 2026, and he could face a maximum of five years in prison with three years of supervised released. He could also face a fine that ranges from $10,000 to $250,000 for each charge.
