Work to upgrade the Northeast Philadelphia Airport is now underway, thanks to more than $1 million in federal funding.
During a press conference, Congressman Brendan F. Boyle (PA-02) presented two checks to the airport on Monday, March 17, 2026: $1 million for airfield improvements and another of $400,000 for perimeter fencing upgrades.
The airfield project will rehabilitate Taxiway C, addressing pavement deficiencies, extending its lifespan to 20 years, and upgrading airfield lighting, signage, and drainage systems to meet current Federal Aviation Administration standards.
“This is the third busiest airport in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” said Congressman Boyle. “So, this is a real economic driver for not just Northeast Philadelphia, not just the entire city of Philadelphia, but really all of Southeastern Pennsylvania as well as adjacent South Jersey. I am proud to present $1.4 million in total to Northeast Philadelphia Airport.”
Northeast Philadelphia Airport is situated on 1,150 acres, with two runways and is Pennsylvania’s third busiest airport.
