Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in South Jersey has been issued a FPCON Charlie on Tuesday afternoon, which means that the base and its personnel are under increased security measures until further notice.
“Increased security measures are in place. All personnel should remain vigilant, follow the direction of security forces, and report any suspicious activity immediately,” the base wrote in a post to social media shortly before 4 p.m.
According to the Defense Logistics Agency, a FPCON Charlie is applied when “an incident occurs or intelligence is received indicating some form of terrorist action targeting personnel or facilities is likely.”
FPCON Charlie is the second-highest force protection level for military installations, according to the DLA.
No reports of an incident at the base have come in, but NBC10 will continue to monitor the situation.
