A man is facing several charges after police said he robbed a smoke shop in Abington Township, Pennsylvania, and assaulted an employee.
According to police, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, around 4 p.m., officers were called to the Abington Smoke Shop, located at 1300 Easton Road, in the Roslyn section of the Township after receiving a report of a possible shooting inside the business.
When officers arrived, police said they found a store employee suffering from a head injury and saw that a glass display case had been shattered. The employee reported that an unidentified man entered the store with his face covered, assaulted him, broke the display case and removed merchandise before fleeing the scene.
Surveillance video obtained by NBC10 shows the entire incident that unfolded in the smokeshop.
In the video, a masked suspect wearing a pink hoodie could be seen entering the store, approaching the counter and then striking the employee in the head.
He then smashes the glass of a display with a rock before stealing items. The video shows him running out of the store and then coming back in just seconds later to steal more.
Police said the employee was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
According to police, it was later discovered that the employee had been struck in the head with a river rock.
Police said officers found the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Zafir Taj Hill of Labelle, Pennsylvania, in the area of Easton Road and Cross Road in the Glenside section of the township.
Hill was found with merchandise that was taken from the smoke shop and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.
A masked man was caught on video hitting a smoke shop cashier and then smashing up the store. NBC10’s Shaira Arias has the story.
Police said Hill has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and related offenses.
Hill was taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, where he was arraigned, and his bail was set at $50,077.
